This
week I am going to talk for a short while about something that I have elected
to call “Stream Flow Writing”. This is not a new concept – in fact there
are many people already doing this under various names and guises.
One
of the most popular names for this style of writing is “Stream of Consciousness
Writing” and another is “Brain Dump Writing”
However way you name it the principles are very similar. The idea is to allow you brain to go into
“Free Fall” and you simply write down whatever comes.
If
does not need to be structured or to contain perfect spelling or correct
punctuation. The whole idea is to just
let the pen flow and your mind to say whatever it wants to…….. There is no need
to read it back unless you particularly wish to…….although personally I find it
is often quite insightful
Some
days it may only consist of a few lines, or, as mine was this morning, almost 3
pages long. Either way is correct so
there is no need to worry if you don’t feel the page.
Many,
many words have been written about the Stream of Consciousness and there are
thousands more that could be written.but the best way to experience is to
simply tap into the concept.
So
my challenge to you is to find a quiet corner where you will not be disturbed,
turn off all distractions, put pen to paper and just let the words flow onto
the page.
Have
fun with it, and maybe you will gain a few insights along the way.
