An Insight Into Self-Hating Habits
Sometimes you think that you
love yourself but in truth you really don’t! This becomes evident by the ways that you
treat yourself. Every action you take
shows whether you love yourself or not!
The behaviour patterns that you adopt in
every day life can often show others that you don’t love yourself.
You stay in “toxic relationships”
If
you persist in living with a relationship situation where the treatment you receive
is less than you deserve it shows that you don’t really love yourself.
You
are in control of this because people cannot respect you or treat you better if
they continually see you accepting poor treatment from others.
Why
would you make excuses when someone treats you poorly if you love yourself?
You Don’t Forgive Yourself
If
you forgive everyone but yourself this is the first step in proving that you
don’t love yourself. We are not perfect
and we don’t always get things correct.
If this describes you then it is important that you remind yourself to
forgive yourself for these things.
You Don’t Give Yourself Compliments
I
believe that it is important to compliment yourself, appreciate your abilities,
your strengths and your gifts / talents
It
is quite simple - if you don’t give yourself compliments you are not loving
yourself as you should!
You Don’t Accept Compliments
Accepting
compliments when they are given is a sign of self love.
A
lot of people have the habit of downplaying compliments that others give them,
they often do not believe the nice things that people are saying about them. I have heard people say “they don’t mean
that, they are telling me untruths!”
You Refuse To Please Yourself In Order
To Please Others
You
should not constantly live to please other people at the expense of your own
personal well being.
Putting
yourself first and looking to your own safety is a sign of self love don’t
sacrifice your own happiness in order to make other people happy!
You Criticise / Look Down On Yourself
Nobody
is faultless and if you are continually finding fault with yourself you are
displaying to the world that you don’t love yourself.
Using
phrases such as the following show a lack of self love
I
am dull
I
am ugly
Nobody
loves me
I
am stupid
These are not the words of someone who loves who they are.
You Don’t Take Care Of Yourself
Nothing says “I don’t love myself”
louder than not taking care of yourself mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Do you sleep well? Do you eat well? Do you exercise? Do you make
efforts to look good?
If you don’t look after
yourself and treat your body well you c, annot be your best and you body will
soon begin to complain. It is the only
one you have, LOOK AFTER IT!
You Don’t Invest In Yourself
If you don’t make an effort
(or efforts) to improve yourself in each and every aspect of your life it
demonstrates that you really don’t love yourself.
Personal Development is
crucial to having a good quality of life!
No amount of time and money
spent is too much to ensure that you are the best version of yourself.
You Make Excuses for Weaknesses
There are no perfect human
beings but we owe it to ourselves to stop justifying our flaws and weaknesses
Self love is actually about
understanding your strengths and weaknesses and the maximising your strengths
and working on your weaknesses. For example instead of justifying you anger issues
and blaming everyone else, stop making excuses and blaming others, take responsibility
and begin to seek to change.
You Have Self Destructive Behaviours
If you have habits that put
your life and / or sanity at risk they demonstrate that you really do not love yourself.
Examples are:- using drugs,
drunk driving, unhealthy eating and unprotected sex.
These clearly show the value
that you place on yourself.
One wrong decision can ruin your entire life!
