A Fact Of Life

©2016 wytchwynd photography

Hi it’s Dave,

It is a fact of life that “running away from what you do not want often has the effect of pushing you towards what you do want”.  So, that being said here is a list of 3 areas to run away from as hard as you possibly can!

Distraction / Being Lonely / Isolation

As we live our lives in the 21st Century we are faced with a lot of things that our forebears would simply not understand particularly the advances in technology in our recent past.  These advances have had a tremendous impact on our lives and have made life much easier but those advances have brought with them a number of problems.

We are living a “connected life” with the advent of the Social Media platforms but this creates issues around superficial friendships, constant distractions, poor human interactions and increased loneliness leading to (in some cases) total isolation

However, we can take steps to counter these effects by building and maintaining quality relationships with family, friends and our local community.  Such choices will help us to maintain an optimum level of mental health and if we build routines and schedules we can eliminate distractions and remain productive and that will in turn help build stability

The Poverty Trap

We have heard a lot about poverty recently and anyone who has been there knows that it is not fun to be on the lowest rung of the social ladder.  If you are unable to meet even your basic needs you quickly become demoralised and in real danger both physical and mental.

However the majority of people who end up on their way down towards this situation are able to improve their personal wellbeing by catching it early and taking action to move themselves out of this place……that is away from poor or below the poverty line.

Ideas that have been cited include building a small business, finding a job (however menial it may seem).

Poor Health

I am sure that every person reading this post has heard of the problems of diabetes, heart disease and cancer, often referred to as the “Obesity Epidemic”.

All these diseases can be brought on by the food choices we make.  However, losing weight is not an easy thing to do (despite knowing that the two key factors are food and exercise).

There is a choice to be made here – either

Eat To Live or Live To Eat.

That said here are a few things that we can do to make some improvements

We can slow the aging process by starting a range of exercises
We can study the facts around diet and then become aware of the effects of different types of food on our bodies

There are activities we can begin that will make life more exciting and more active, which will in turn help to keep us healthy.

It has to be said that working towards a healthy, active lifestyle and being independent is very worthwhile.

So in conclusion I will repeat what I said at the beginning of this post

running away from what you do not want often has the effect of pushing you towards what you do want
