©2017 My 2018 Vision Board |
Let us take a look at the
way to create a vision board that actually works. The secret behind every good vision board is
that it helps push you forwards in life and works towards turning what once seemed
impossible into something that is very, very possible.
Using magazine clippings
stuck onto a board can hold tremendous power provided that you take the time
you need to create it properly. The way
that you set about creating your Vision Board (from the board itself to all of
the content you place on it) is what makes it work.
I believe that there is a
lot of soul searching and deep reflection required to make the board come to
life with the images and statements that will speak volumes to you day after
day.
You might find that from
start to end the whole process can run into several weeks. You cannot simply grab a pile of magazines
and stick any old pictures there if you want your Vision Board to mean
something and guide you towards specific achievements.
So before you begin to
physically create your Vision Board here is a list of things that are crucial
if you want a board that works for you.
Look
back over the past year and jot down what you have already achieved. Your list
could be enhanced by following these prompts:-
What did you accomplish?
What did you do that made
you proud?
What did you try that did
not work out the way you wanted it to?
Looking at the successful
points of the past year should provide you with some ideas of what you can
build on.
Which
direction do you want to take you life in the next year?
People forget that they are
in control of their life and keep on “putting up” with something because they
have forgotten that they can change things.
You could use an affirmation
such as this one to help you reinforce what you are doing.
“I am the designer of my
life and my role is to lay the foundation and then to choose the contents”
Too many people stay in jobs
that they hate, in relationships where they are not happy, in friendships that
no longer serve them, because they say to themselves “this is just the way it
is!”
Creating a vision board
reminds you that there is an alternative!
You do not need to remain stuck because you are able to choose which
direction you life goes next.
Another example of a Vision Board |
Everyone
knows of at least one personal change they want to make.
It
makes absolutely no difference where you are or how successful you have become,
I can guarantee that everyone (if they are totally honest) knows that there is
something they want to change about themselves.
A
couple of examples being:-
Lose
weight
Start
that business
Make
more time for family and friends
Looking at the areas of
your life where you are unhappy gives you the pointers towards where you want
to go next!
When
you understand what it is that you want to change, you can begin to work our how
exactly you are going to make those changes.
If you need to study
something there are many places online where you can enrol for all sorts of
free classes.
So what would you do
differently if there was nothing to hold you back?
Just
in case you think that what you want to change and what would you do
differently are the same, but really they are not.
We
do sometimes find ourselves in a situation where there is at least one thing we
want to change but we can really do very little about it….
Some
examples are
A
job that keep you in a certain area.
The
cost of childcare stops you from saving as much as you would like.
Caring
for elderly parents takes up so much of your time that you find you cannot
start the business you have been dreaming of.
Let
me ask you this - What would you do if
none of those things held you back from living the life you want to right now?
Answering
these questions will help you clearly see your big goal and having that in mind
before you start cutting out pictures and quotes from those inspirational
publications will help you to create your vision board in a way that serves
your purpose.
BE CLEAR ON YOUR NEXT
BIG GOAL!
Getting
rid of the barriers that are holding you back from living your best life is so
very important!
Once
you have a clearly defined goal you can be strategic about finding the visuals
to put onto your vision board to serve that goal.
Your vision board CAN
transform your life but it is your job to build the vision of what you want to
become.
