Be Happier In A Job You Don't Love!
Many people go to work because they have to while some go to work because they want to. Some people also go to work and they are ambivalent about the situation. They feel that it is ok but the pay could be better, the hours could be less, the holidays could be longer and so forth.
However, I am able to say that without making massive changes there are still ways to help make your experience at work more satisfying, more pleasurable and here are a few suggestion you can implement that will allow you to take the reins of your career.
So let us now take a look at some of these changes that will help you to build and create a more meaningful and controlled work environment.
Create Momentum
You can begin this by using the first hour of your day to focus on the most important things that you have to do. If you do this you are less likely to spend the day in a fog of distraction (eg Social Media etc.) We often believe that if we distract ourselves we can make the unpleasant aspects of our work more pleasant.
However, this is a fallacy and you will find that if you become more focused and involved with what you are doing, the higher the feelings of satisfaction will be.
Resulting in a job well done and time well spent!
Create a Meaning
We all know that business / organisations exist for something but quite simply that knowledge is not particularly inspirational. So why not take some time and figure our why your job matters?
It may be that you are able to help others with their problems, maybe you are able to express your creative side and much more. But, to be honest, even if you are really only going to work for the money this still matters! Why? Because supporting your family or being able to fund your hobby are still worthy reasons.
So now matter what your reason happens to be take ownership of it and that in turn will result in you finding your work much more meaningful.
Take Care Of Your Workspace
When it comes to keeping it tidy it is important that your work space, however small, is your domain and it is important to recognise that outer order contributes to inner calm. Making the space your own with photographs, plants can also be crucial to your wellbeing. Do all you can to make the workspace that you have, personal to you!
Celebrate Your Progress
Your happiness at work can so often be dependent on "small wins". In reality they matter so much more than the "big ones" that are so far off in the distance that all too often you tend to think of them as unachievable.
So begin each day with listing 3 or so tasks that can be achieved fairly easily but that will make a big difference to your day. Once you have completed these tasks then celebrate with a break or some other small reward
In conclusion I would as you to remember this -
it is the little victories that make the most significant difference to your happiness at work.
