TAKING
STOCK
Hi, it is almost the end of 2020 and so it is time for most people to sit down and look back over the past year and to do a self check-in.
So in case you have never done this before this post provides you with some guidance of how to do it.
Take yourself into a quiet room where it is unlikely that you will be disturbed by every day life.
Make sure you have a cup of tea or coffee or other such beverage (preferably not alcohol), a pen or pens
Some paper or a notebook or a journal and ask yourself the following questions
1. What three things have gone well for me during the last six months and why?
Your answers should consider what you are grateful for what you have done and what type of thinking has brought positive results in your life.
2. if you were able to create three achievable goals to start in January 2021 what would they be?
Plot the milestones that you would need to reach each month to get to your goal.
How can you celebrate weekly improvements as well as reaching the monthly milestones?
3. what three things can you either think about or do differently that will create positive results during the coming six month period?
Identify things that might get in your way and determine how you will deal with them if they do. Decide what you will celebrate when you achieve your goal.
So here are a few suggestions for you to help bring you some clarity for the coming year.
1. Which of these is your common cause of stress?
Feelings of
a) disapproval
b) overwhelm
c) being fake
d) not being in control
2. What is your main motivation to get you back on track?
a) growing and being your best self?
b) regaining your direction in life?
c) living a life less ordinary?
d) feeling good about yourself again?
3. You are motivated to change when:-
a) you are pushed into it?
b) you have clarity about what matters?
c) you have a break from routine?
d) someone encourages you to change?
You may feel (having read the above), that such changes may be a bit scary!
However, I urge you to read them again and consider each one carefully.
Then as you consider the points I have raised you may just realise that you are stuck in your comfort zone and and in need of something to kick you out of said comfort zone.
So, instead of being a "scaredy-cat", tell yourself "I might just be able to pull this off", and that 2021 is my year to finally bring some much needed changes into my life.
Then why not tell yourself that it is possible to change if you can follow these “easy to do” steps
