STRANGE
TIMES
Welcome to this week's blog post and to say that it has been a strange couple of weeks is something of an understatement!
The ongoing events are something the like of which we have never seen before in our lifetime. If you are anything like I am then you will be perplexed, incredulous, baffled and many other things all rolled into one.
There are bound to be many questions on people's lips and a vast majority of those questions will probably remain unanswered.
Probably one of the most frequently asked questions will be HOW?
How could this situation become so "severe" in such a short length of time?
How could the spread of the culprit virus be so rapid?
Another question in my mind is where do we go from here, will life return to the "normal" that we know or will our lives be changed forever?
Speaking personally, I feel that the things we knew 2 weeks ago will now be changed forever and I truly hope that those changes will be for the better. I don't think anyone here in the Western World will be unaffected.
So that said I am not putting myself up as an expert in such matters, because I am not, but I do feel that we all need to look, in detail, at the way we live our lives. I think we need to become less dependent on external sources being the source of our happiness plus I also feel that we need to take more responsibility for the way our daily life plays out.
Furthermore we also need to step away from the blame culture and accept that a lot of day to day events are (or can be) controlled by us and our attitudes / behaviours.
It is interesting to note the words of Aldous Huxley
"Technological progress has merely provided us with more efficient means for going backwards"
I sincerely hope that you will give the above some thought and look at how changes can be made that bring each of us to a better, more grounded and peaceful, meaningful life.
