The Donkey And The Well Adapted by Dave Baxter 10th August 2017

This little story was sent to me a few weeks ago and I thought that it would be useful to include it in the blog.

There is a moral to the story and a lot of people would benefit if they thought like the donkey.   So if you are all sitting comfortably,  I will begin…..

The Donkey And The Well

One day, a donkey fell into a well.

The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what do do.

Finally he reached a decision.

The donkey was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway:  it just wasn’t worth all the effort that was required to retrieve and rescue the donkey.

So he invited all of his neighbours to come over and help him fill in the old well.

The each grabbed a shovel and began piling the dirt into the well.

As the donkey realised what was happening to him he cried horribly but then to everyone’s amazement he became very quiet and stopped struggling.

The wise animal had a plan!!!!

As each spadeful of earth hit his back, the donkey would shake himself and take a step upwards onto the growing mound of earth.

Eventually, the mound grew high enough for him to step out of the well and happily trot off about his business.

Life is going to shovel dirt onto you – all kinds of dirt.  The trick is to shake it off and take a step up.

We can get out of the deepest well if we don’t stop and we never give up!

Just shake yourself off, step up and continue moving upwards.
