Healthy Ways To Deal With STRESS!

              STRESS!





Hi and thank you for joining me on this week's blog from Altered Image Coaching

I am Lifecoach and Personal Development Consultant DAve Baxter, and over the years since I qualified I have been particularly interested in (as the title says) how to "deal with stress" in positive and healthy ways.


In the course of my work I have regularly encountered people complaining about the stress they are under and as a result this has led me begin working with them as clients

I began to notice certain similarities and the more I did the more I realised that life in the 21st Century was becoming increasingly stressful. So I set about preparing a list of healthy tips that I could pass on to  clients and others about dealing with these life stresses in healthy ways.

So in no particular order here are my top 25 tips for dealing with the stresses of every day life 

1      Wear comfortable clothes
2      Do not rely on substances to blank out the stresses
3      Use time today to prepare for tomorrow morning
4      Start to use a planner / diary
5      Check your agenda regularly and allot a fixed number of items per day
6      Say "no" more often
7      Wake up earlier each day
8      Work out what your priorities and define them clearly (write them down)
9      Leave toxic relationships (and distance yourself from "toxic people"
10    Use your time wisely
11    Only focus you energy on what you can control!
12    Seek out the opportunities in life's challenges
13    Spend time reading "good" books
14    Laugh often (TV comedy shows are really good for this!)
15    Only confide in people that you can trust
16    Create and populate a journal
17    Relax in a warm bath (bubbles or perfume are acceptable) and let you                    troubles float away 
18    Eat a health combination of meals
19    Take regular exercise
20    Become involved in developing a "passion project"
21    Make time for friends and family
22    Spread kindness among those around you
23    Turn off (or strictly limit) Social Media
24    Release the past - it is done and CANNOT control you unless you let it!
25    Smile / laugh often

So those are my 25 healthy ways to deal with the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Going Back To The Mind......




                    GOING

               BACK

                  TO THE 

                      MIND!



Hi and welcome to this week's blog post

During the past week I have been considering what to put into the post and as a result of that I thought it may be useful to revisit something that continues to be a favourite topic of mine...... that of Mindfulness.  

So let us take a look at some of the basics Mindfulness is about:-

Being here in the present moment!

Being without judgement

Being patient

Being kind to yourself

Being open and curious

Being trusting of your own instincts

Being non-striving

Being with "what is!"

Being about "Letting Go"

Being committed to the practice of Mindfulness - adopting it as a "way of being"

However, one question that I am often asked when I talk about "being here now!" (ie being present) is ....... How do I do that?

So here are some tips to help you become present

Pay attention (without judgement) in the present moment and do it "on purpose"

Tune into your senses and take note of what you are feeling in your body

Be an observer of your "inner world" without making any judgements or criticisms

Pay attention to and cultivate the good things!  Take notice of the good and warm feelings inside of you.

How to be Without Judgement 

At first this can be difficult to do because you have to simply accept things as they are and act appropriately in a way that is in your own interest.

Do not judge whether others are "right " or "wrong" - just accept that they are so and that what ever is, is!

You need to be curious but not judgemental

If you do find that you are being judgemental stop yourself!  

To do this you will need to observe what you are thinking.  This awareness with help you to realise whenever you are being judgemental.

Once you "STOP" judging you move on to UNDERSTANDING!

Put yourself in the place of the person you are observing (step into their shoes) and try to imagine their background.  If possible talk to them and try to imagine what their back story is.

So by putting these simple tips into practice I contend that you should become more aware and that awareness will hep you move away from judgements and become more understanding and hopefully lead a calmer and richer personal life.

This Week At Altered Image Coaching!


 

                THIS WEEK AT

        ALTERED IMAGE                   COACHING!




Hey it's DAve....

...... and I would like to thank you all for joining me on this week's post........yes I know it has been a while since I did a proper post but in all honesty since getting back from holiday a couple of week's ago life has been far from quiet!

I spent the early part of the week going through (and answering) over a hundred emails from business contacts, clients, etc. and my personal email accounts were also groaning under the strain.  

Please note that I am not complaining - it is great to receive these communications and I think I have now answered all of them.

So with the "decks clear" I am going to be thinking long and hard about the next series of posts on here.  

One thing I would like to do is encourage more people reading / subscribing to these posts.  Therefore, if you know of anyone who may find them interesting please spread that word and suggest that it could be interesting if they were to follow on a regular basis.

Over the next week I will be putting together the first of the new generation of posts and I hope that they will serve to encourage enlighten and entertain you and people like you dear reader.
