REDESIGN YOUR LIFE (Part 1)

           Your Life 

             (Part 1)




Hi thank you for joining me for this week’s post.

This will provide you with an insight into something I am currently working on called:– 

Ways To Redesign Your Life.

This introduction provides a short insight into something that I feel is very important to all of us……. You have probably heard (or used) a phrase that goes something like – “this has got to change!”  and when you did hear it you nodded sagely and then remained firmly sitting on the fence, or you did something but then jumped back onto the fence and that was that!

So in order to prepare yourself for making changes in your life you need to know exactly where you are right here and right now,  and to do that I advise clients to complete something called a Quality Score.  

This is done by evaluating you life in 5 key areas using a scale of 1- 10 (where 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest).

So why not do it right now?

  1. Am I Happy?
  2. Am I living my best life?
  3. Am I living a balanced life?
  4. Am I living my life on purpose?
  5. Am I experiencing a life that is fulfilled?

Having scored these different areas take a good look at your scores and ask yourself the next two questions:-

Is it possible for me to be / do / have more in my life?

What does happiness and fulfillment need me to do?

During the next 7 days refer back often to this list and consider how you could start to improve you lowest scores.  Write down you answers and keep them safe until next week.

17/04/22 Life Planning (A Video Post)

Hi and thank you for joining me for today's blog post.

Hi it's Dave and thank you for joining me for this week's post on the 

Altered Image Coaching Blog

A few months ago I was posting videos on here that were "on topic" and relevant to my work as a coach.  However, as things progressed and I became busier and with both my day job and my coaching work it became increasingly difficult to continue making said videos. 

However, because I still believe that these videos can provide useful insights into some of the situations and issues that I regularly encounter during my work in Personal Development I have decided to resume the production.  However, because I have no idea how things will progress as we come further out of the COVID situation there is a possibility that I am only able to do 2 / month.

So with all that said here is the latest video entitled

An 8 - Step Plan (for Success)



Hi and thank you very much for joining me on this weeks blog post it is called :-

An 8-step Plan because it really is a plan for success. As you are most likely aware success can take many different guises so I will leave you to interpret what success means for you.

So now let us look at:- 

The 8 Steps to Planning For Success

Step 1 - Download Your To-Do Items

This is a little offspring from a mind dump.  It consists of simply writing down all of your to dos, things that you are putting off for a later day.

Step 2 - Important or Urgent?

When listing your to-do’s you simply need to set them into priority order. Are they urgent or are they important?

Something that is urgent makes you think it is important even if it is not! 

For Example:- A phone call / a text / the doorbell all of these items are probably urgent but are they always important? - probably not!

So plan your time in order of importance beginning with the most important things you have to do.

Step 3 - Schedule Your To-Do Items 

At this point start to write your to-do list onto your calendar. Be focused on your goals and determine the results that you want to produce.

Step 4 - Downtime Planning

Make sure that you write down all the firm things on your schedule!  For example,  social activities, sleep time, meal times.

If it is on your schedule then it has to happen so remember to schedule breaks as well!

Step 5 - Don’t Give Yourself Too Much Time

For example, there is a natural law that says “if you allow yourself five hours to do something it will take you five hours to do” and if you give yourself an hour it will take an hour!

It is surprising how much you can accomplish in a short time

This was ultimately named Parkinson‘s Law  which was reworded to  “work will expand to fill the time available for its completion“

Step 6 - Plan Your Day (based on your energy levels)

Simply this means you should aim to do the most time-consuming task when you are in “prime time”!

If your mornings are when you are at your most creative or inspired, then you can use this time for your most creative work – avoid wasting your time with social media and you will really see your productivity increase!

Step 7 - Plan Your Time!

Plan your day in advance, because if you try to plan in the moment your brain will not feel like it wants to do whatever you have planned. So sit down and plan your day in advance

If you plan ahead you will always know what you should be doing at any given moment

Step 8 - What Are Your Top Three?

You should always select your top three tasks when you are planning your next days schedule – if you complete these tasks you will be satisfied with your day but beware do not schedule more than three important tasks for each day.

Make Space For Thinking

Hi and thank you for joining me on the Altered Image Blog this week.

I was wondering what to write about in this post and for inspiration I looked back over some old notes and this sprung at me.

We have so many thoughts whirling around our heads that we simply don't know what to think, if your head is anything like mine it is similar to an American Freeway, there are ideas hitting me from all angles and often they collide!  Sometimes those collisions generate new ideas whereas other times they create total carnage and destroy things that I felt were solid.

So I decided to take myself out of circulation for a short time and attempt to get some semblance of control and this is what I discovered.

It is important to Make Your Skills Work For You

I thought about this long and hard!  I have control of the world all around me (although I cannot make significant and monumental governmental decisions).

However, I can control what I let into my space and how I interact with the world around me.

I think back to my time in Morocco and how clearly I thought after my trip there (and that was without mind expanding substances)  I feel that with the exception of Glastonbury not other place I have visited has had such a profound effect.

As a result of this process began to list the areas that I have skills in and here is a somewhat abridged list of those skills:-

Music - creating original tunes, writing lyrics, recording, teaching

Radio - I am regularly broadcasting several shows per month

Photography - I have had a number of exhibitions which have brought customers and ultimately commissions

Teaching - people have paid me to provide training in personal development and for providing coaching services, 

So it is my contention that there is always time to make space in your life for your thinking about your skills, it is simply a matter of making it happen!   By doing so you may also find that your skills will provide you with additional income and as a result you could discover that:-

YOUR SKILLS CAN PROVIDE A ROUTE TO HAPPINESS!
